The Carbon Reduction Label communicates the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions from goods & sevices.
For products to carry the Carbon Trust carbon reduction label, companies will need to have completed a rigorous analysis of their product or service supply chain following the PAS 2050 standard that is currently being developed by the Carbon Trust in partnership with the UK government Department for Food, farming and Rural Affairs (Defra) and BSI British Standards. The final version of the PAS 2050 will be published in late 2008. Companies displaying the label sign up to a ‘reduce it or lose it’ clause whereby if they fail to reduce the carbon footprint of the product over a two year period they will have the label withdrawn by the Carbon Trust.
