Food Alliance certifies farms and ranches that: Provide safe a fair work environment, Ensure humane treatment of animals, Conserve soil and water resources, Reduce pesticide use and toxicity through integrated pest management, Protect wildlife habitat, and Commit to continuous improvement of sustainable practices. Hormone treatments, use of sub-therapeutic antibiotics, and genetically modified crops or livestock are also prohibited under Food Alliance certification.
Food Alliance also certifies food handlers (including packers, manufacturers, processors, distributors and wholesalers) who: Use Food Alliance Certified ingredients from sustainably managed farms and ranches; Create natural products considering both product purity and nutritional value; Ensure quality control and food safety; Provide a safe and fair work environment; Conserve water and energy; Reduce use of toxic and hazardous materials, Responsibly manage waste with emphasis on recycling and reuse; and Commit to continuous improvement of these sustainable practices.
